Did Lafayette make Hilary gag? Let's hope so! :) LOL

I went to Cincinnati this week. I got there Sunday night around 12midnight and left Tuesday morning. Monica, don't hate me.. I know I didn't call. I hadn't saved your number in my phone. Next time, you will have a primo position on my agenda, I promise. Wow... you know what? That was super presumptuous of me! Monica may have just thrown her head back, let out a big sigh and with a giddy smile said, "Thank you, Lord, for deleting my number out of Caitie's phone!" Hell, she might not even read this! I am so conceited! And yet... the crazy thing is, the fact that I pointed out my own egotistical thoughts might be an indication of how humble I am! Ah, the ongoing debate on everyone's minds!

Speaking of crazy and ongoing debates, Ms. Clinton is in town! Who wants to scour Lafayette, looking for Hilary, so we can push her into a hotel pool?? C'mon! As I was driving over the Wabash, covering my mouth and nose so as not to give the Lafayette air any room for victory (we currently have a competition going.. if I can get from downtown Lafayette to my apartment without dry-heaving, I win! If I gag, the West Lafayette Department of Sanitation wins. So far, we're 5-46. Fingers crossed that I can bring my score up. I've tried covering my entire face with a Snuggle dryer sheet, but I got lightheaded. Anyway, I hope Hilary enjoyed a strong Lafayette breeze today.), I saw that there was a line of people, 5 adults thick, that wound down the depot steps, past the Lafayette Savings Bank bank, and around the corner, ending about a fourth of the way across the bridge! Who are these people? I really wanted to attend, protesting quietly with a quick-witted sign that would have made everyone second guess their undying support! I can see it now.. people would notice my sign and while reading, cock their heads to one side, stop listening to Hilary and start nodding in agreement with my witty remark about how irrelevant it is to talk about health-care or education costs when 1/2 the population is/will be missing!

While my mom was getting ready for the Blue Knight Auction, someone called from the Obama campaign. My mom made a kind but firm explanation for our non-support, but part of me wanted to get on the phone and ask the person questions. Not about Barack's campaign but about where they're calling from, if they have one of those scripts in front of them and if Obama provided his campaign staff with dinner while they made hundreds of random phone calls. The logistics of campaigns are fascinating to me and sometimes I just want a glimpse into the political world at that level.

Anyway, the reason I visited Cincinnati to assist my cousin. She's 18, a senior at an all-girls high school and was voted onto prom court! She has never been to a dance before; it's just not her scene. So, as she is basically being forced to attend, she's a little nervous and asked me to come down to help her find a dress since the prom is this Friday. I was glad to help but now I'm thinking that I should have stayed home. I have so much to do and I'm so behind on all the day-to-day crap-ola that needs to be done.. It was relaxing tho and fun to spend time with my family! :)

One of the things I need to take care of is our toilet. I think I need to call maintenance, because it has been running for days.. We don't pay water, otherwise I would have called before I left for Cincinnati (go green!), but the chain keeps coming off the little hooky thing and last week I had to wrap my entire arm in plastic wrap (I'm not kidding) and stick my hand down the back of the toilet to re-attach it! If you were outside the bathroom, you would have heard this.. "Alright.. here we go! Ehhh.... Ewwww EWWW!!! Ah! Ehh... DAMMIT, where's the f-ing... AHHHH!!! EWW EWW EWW!!" (That's verbatim.) Hmmm... makes you wonder what the hell is going on in West Lafayette. The air smells like shit and our toilet is running away like Hilary Clinton at St. B's Oktoberfest. Is there some kind of poop strike going on? Well, I'll tell you what; my own toilet is as far as I will take things into my own (plastic wrap covered) hands, and even then --I'll still dry heave! I haven't made phone calls yet, but I think I'll start tomorrow before Sanitation hits 50 points... This is ridiculous!

The Cactus

So my last post was about the Bishop and planning for Mikey's 21st, but then Elisabeth asked me how the Cactus went! It's a funny story and too long to write as a comment, so I just decided to post again! This is a record for me, by the way, as it is usually months between posts!

The cactus was okay.. I have never seen it that empty! We sat at the piano bar for a couple songs then went out to dance. Clemont was hilarious! The other guys didn't dance tho, and left for Preston's within an hour.

A large black man, with grills (not the food cooker.. I'm talking dental bling), named Cornell, came up to me and asked my name. I gave him the usual fake name that I always use (Suzy) and he called me out on it. So my new sugar daddy (I swear, once you date a black man, it's like they all know it! Jeremy said they can probably smell it on me.. Haha!) asked me for 5 minutes of my time. I said I'd give him two walks around the dance floor (no joke! I really thought he'd say nevermind!). So, we're walking and talking and he said, "So what a man like me gotta do to get your phone number?" I told him that I never give my phone number out the first time I meet a guy and that I believe in destiny. "If we are meant to be," I said. "We will meet again." That, surprisingly, didn't turn him off and only furthered his interest (what the hell, right?). He was pretty persistent, so I told him I would be back at the Cactus next weekend, which was a bold-faced lie.

Then I turned away and went to go dance with the girls and Clemont. Cornell stood at the edge of the dance floor and every so often would yell, "Hey!" to get my attention. However, I purposefully positioned myself so that he could not catch my eye easily. Finally he sent his friend over who was apparently mute because he tapped me on the shoulder, with a serious look, and just pointed to my new friend. He motioned for me to come over to him and said, "Tell your friends to quit blockin' my view!" And I was like, "Huh?" And he said, "Your friends keep crowdin' around you and blockin' my vieeeew!" And when he said "view", he looked me up and down. Ooookay, that was enough! I went back to the girls and Clemont and as soon as he walked away for a minute, I hightailed it out of there! Whew!

Apparently he caught Mikey on the way out and they exchanged a few ghetto words.. I'm in the clear tho, and that is all that matters! Just DO NOT ask me to go to the Cactus next weekend.

We went to Preston's afterward and stayed until 3:30am. Theresa Mills called me this morning and woke me up. I was offended that anyone would call so early until she said, "Caitie, it's almost noon!" Whoops.. :)

It was a good night tho! :) Happy Birthday Mikey!

The Bishop's 21st Birthday?

There has been a slew of articles, letters to the editor and talk happening since Bishop Higi announced that Catholics should not support the Komen foundation, as it financially provides for Planned Parenthood. Not that this kind of talk is a new thing.. In the last couple years I have heard various people speak with some distain about our ordinary, Catholics no less! I have always found it almost repulsive when Catholics would speak badly about our Bishop. A couple months ago I was at a birthday party and someone mentioned how excited they were for August, when the Bishop would send in his letter for retirement. I nearly left the table and went home. It's one thing for non-Catholics to "dis" the guy.. that's just ignorance. But to hear a Catholic do it.. that's arrogance! Do they only beleive in the Apostolic Succession and the guidance of the Holy Spirit when they agree with every decision and love the man to death? I don't understand it.. and I feel for the Bishop. I know it breaks his heart.

Anyway, tonight is Mikey's 21st birthday! Whoo hoo!! I'm so excited! Anyone is welcome to join.. we will be at Bruno's at 8pm, then OBryan's and then.... (drumroll please..) ... the Neon Cactus (God, help us!). The Cactus is reeaaally not my style. As someone at Blue Jacket said last night, "I like to dance as a gentleman or lady.. not a dog." But, I think everyone has to go there once and it's Mikey's turn. We'll see how it goes. Everyone at work is telling us they will be looking in the paper on Sunday.. I don't think things are going to go THAT far!

(Hopefully..)

YoungLife is going well, but takes up so much time and effort. I'm nearly burnt out and glad for the time off soon! However, I am required to attend a camp with 8 of the CC kids in early June.. one week, 50 kids, cabins, no AC, bugs, no booze.. this is the closest thing to the survivor show I will ever get!

Well, I should go. I need to stretch and carbo-load before tonight.. :)

Movies, cats, single-hood and a party...

Hello, hello!

So, after hearing all the hype, I just got Netflix and I am really enjoying it! I've only got two movies so far. The first was "Elizabeth: The Golden Age", which was really crappy. It totally skewed the story and made St. Phillip out to be a zealot.. don't waste your time. Then I got "The Simpsons", which I had already seen. It's good, verrry funny, but one of those movies you should only see once. But either way, I love getting the mail and knowing that I only have to get to my mailbox to return the movie! :) My next film is "Into the Wild", which I am super excited about! My mom just came back from Ireland and said that she saw it on the plane and that it was awesome! :) Yay!

Now, I'd like to open up the discussion to you all..
I need names for cats. Multiple cats. To the left is a picture of all the cats for whom I will need names..

I'll be honest with you, I hate cats. And I'm allergic. But with all the new relationships, engagements and weddings going on, I'm starting to envision a life of kitten-chorus-lines and crocheted pillows.. Shit. Do you know what this means?? I need to get out there! DAMMIT!

This all started last week, at Blue Jacket night, when Elisabeth, Jeremy and I played matchmaker (by the way, have you seen the "Millionaire Matchmaker" show on Bravo? It's facinating! I love the Bravo channel). We sat at the end of one of the tables, watched everyone and discussed who could be coupled together. At the end of the night, without any mention of the match, two of the people we envisioned together had decided to go on a date!!! We were very proud! And just a couple days later, Elisabeth got ENGAGED!

But while we were having our fun, Elisabeth said "You're like the only single girl!" Waa waa! (Reminds me of the "Debbie Downer" skit, from SNL..) I'll admit, it's kinda fun.. There are multiple single men who I can have my way with (i.e. bum cigarettes off of and give me gas money). But I did start to think about what the heck I've been doing the past year! Where have I been? What have I been doing? Where the hell did my rock hard ass go? Then I remembered YoungLife; which I now call "Sucks-the-Young-Life-out-of-you". And I remembered how multiple people started telling me, "Caitie, you have to stop doing things for everyone else and start doing some for yourself. And please stop being so beautiful." And I was like, "I can't help it!" And I remembered going back to work even tho I quit because it became too much..

Yeah, I think I need to do a little re-evaluating. Some re-prioritizing. Some re-structurizing. And a little re-excercising, if you know what I mean. For now, however, I'll just continue to flirt shamelessly, bum cirgarettes and keep my Sugar Daddies busy.

Anyho, I'm finishing up organizing Laura's Bachelorette party this week. I won't tell you anything that Laura doesn't already know.. We are having dinner at "El Rodeo"(they make a great margarita), then onto "All Fired Up" (the pottery studio) to make her matching plates, and then to "Capp and Gino's" for a late martini or latte! :) I have so many cute things for the gift bags and the cake is gorgeous! I have been doing a lot of planning and am sooo excited! :) The Bachelorette party is soooo my style! :) I can't wait!
